M.F Husain is more judgmental in his decision making without much influence of his emotions. He makes decisions by thing what is best for him in a given circumstance and won't get pushed around emotionally by other people. He is quite objective in nature and given to evaluation facts before taking decisions.

He is ruled by his head and not entirely by his heart. He is a cool, collected person. Some may see him as an unemotional person. Emotional Intensity:
He has a very deep and enduring feelings. Any emotional situation or feeling generally stays with him for a long time. He has definite likes and dislikes. Unless an artist is able to feel the situation intensely, he/she won't be successful in portray it as a piece of art.

Ability to Focus:
He has a tremendous ability to focus on any project/task that he takes on. When he is focusing on some project then he forgets everything else that's happening around him. For an artist to be successful, ability to focus is the key. This is what gets the best thoughts.

He is the one having Curious/Investigative as well as Creative thinking patterns. Having multiple thinking patterns helps him to do justice to the tasks involving fast thinking/decision making as well as slow creative generation of ideas. He has an amazing ability to align his thinking patterns based on the situations. Probably that is one of the reasons that makes him a great artist and film maker and every other tasks he takes.
Being a Creative Thinker...
He thinks/creates much like a brick mason, stacking fact-upon-fact. However, the thought pattern is not complete until the last fact is in place. He constructs things and picture them in his mind. He tends to learn more quickly with demonstration rather than by reading instructions. But one every good thing is that once the knowledge is there, it stays with him forever..
Being an Analytical and Curious thinker...
He sifts and examines facts, he has this ability to consider the pros and cons. He interprets all the facts by separating them, breaking them down, and organizing them from a critical point of view. He does possess a strong reasoning ability.
Being a Curious thinker, he thinks rapidly if required by a situation. He can take say ten good ideas and quickly formulate into one idea that works.

Goals/Self Image:
He is a practical person whose goals are planned. He has this innate desire for well-defined goals. He has an ability to view the end of the project at the beginning (before he starts). Everything he does is mapped out- the entire route he is going to take. He plans everything in advance and finds joy in anticipation. This ability helps him in his profession as an artist as well as a film maker.

Will Power:
He exhibits tremendous will-power that helps him achieve his goals in-spite-of any difficulty he faces.

Attention to details:
He exhibits extreme attention to details. He is an observant person and notices everything. He tends to have a good memory.

Perfectionism:
He has perfectionism in his personality. He is a kind of person who takes time putting everything in place and reviews work thoroughly in order to make it precise.

Organizational ability:
He has this fine ability to create smooth-running order out of chaos. He tends to organize his time, work pretty well. This is an ability that helps him handle multiple tasks well.

Social Skills/Communication:
He has the ability to express his ideas smoothly and easily, moving from one subject to another with ease. He exhibits fluidity of thoughts and that makes him a good speaker and writer.
He is a kind of person who doesn't like beating around the bush and likes "to-the- point" communication.
He is quite selective in the choice of his associates and limits the close, intimate friends to only a few.
He is always honest and blunt when asked his opinions.

A note about Signature Sample:

This Signature is of President Barack Obama signing the historic healthcare bill at the White House. What may surprise you is the fact that Obama used not one, or two, but 22 different pens to sign this history bill.
TIME magazine explains the rationale behind multi-pen signatures:
The pen used to sign historic legislation itself becomes a historical artifact. The more pens a President uses, the more thank-you gifts he can offer to those who helped create that piece of history. The White House often engraves the pens, which are then given as keepsakes to key proponents or supporters of the newly signed legislation.
More details here .

Barack Obama's Signature Analysis:

Barack Obama's Signature shows Desire for Responsibility . This may sound a very obvious trait for a person who is arguably the most Powerful person on Earth, handling country as big as United States and many a crucial World affairs. This trait is important in a Leadership role which requires a person to take up responsibilities abruptly. Obama has a desire to be needed by a large number of people. A sneak peak into earlier days of Obama reveals that in late 1988, he entered Harvard Law School. He was selected as an editor of the Harvard Law Review at the end of his first year, and president of the journal in his second year. He has been wanting the responsibilities to do more from his early days.

Obama possesses Fluidity of Thoughts in his personality. Fluidity of thoughts at a granular level is the ability of a person to move from one thought to other with ease. This forms the basis of supreme Communication Skills that he possesses. He is also Frank and honest While relaying his comments and thoughts. He is known for his Oratory powers. One of the events that is widely considered as turning point for Obama's career is his keynote address in 2004 Democratic National Convention . The video of Keynote is here . This speech catapulted Obama in the National scene. His discourse was widely regarded as eloquent and inspiring. Many observers consider Obama such an accomplished speaker that they compare him with the great communicator of our era- Martin Luther King Jr., John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan. His oratory powers are also acknowledged by Republicans as well. As Louisiana's Republican Governor Bobby Jindal commented on August 10, 2008,
"Senator Obama is one of the best Speakers- one of the most inspiring speakers- I've seen in a political generation. You have to go back to President Ronald Reagan to really see somebody who's that articulate." So much is the Influence of Obama's communication skills that Shel Leanne wrote a book- Say It Like Obama: The Power of Speaking with Purpose and Vision highlighting his techniques that makes him a speaker par excellence. Fluidity of Thoughts not only formed the basis of his speaking skills but also the Writing skills. He has also authored high impact books such as Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance and The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream

Obama has the need to be Socially Prominent , as someone of enormous stature. He wants to stand-out in public. He has this innate need to be famous.
Obama has Immense Pride in self and his abilities also.

He possess good deal of determination in his personality. Determination is one positive trait that helps anyone achieve the goals one has set for self. Obama's rise in the United States political scene is nothing short of a miracle. He was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996 and he was President of United States by 2008. From being a State Senator to ruling United States in close to a decade is meteoric. Determination is certainly one of the traits that has helped him scale new heights while maintaining that burning passion.

Obama is Cautious in his decision making approach. He always choose to be careful in order to minimize risks. The cautious tendency reduces any impulsive behavior and causes one to weigh pros and cons before making decisions. He uses his judgment and is ruled by head and not by heart especially in decision making. In his article in Washington Post by Joel Achenbach, he says- "President Obama is almost defiantly deliberative, methodical and measured, even when critics accuse him of dithering. When describing his executive style, he goes into Spock mode, saying, "You've got to make decisions based on information and not emotions. Obama's style has been attacked from his left flank as well. Liberals have zinged him as being too cautious, too much of a compromiser." More on Joel's article here . He also possesses Perfectionism in his personality and that may be the reason i.e. to satisfy his desire for Perfection, some of his decisions take time but by general consensus are more articulate.

Signature Sample:

This Signature Sample is resized for better readibility

A Note before you read the analysis:

I got this Signature Sample after i purchased one of the ABD creations, the StudyLite table lamp. This Signature Sample was inscribed on a paper that came with the lamp. My general observation is that the Signature samples that also serves on the advertisement are not 100% same as the actual signatures because sometimes printing takes it toll ans also you cannot judge the pressure in such a situation. Also, my experience tells me that Signatures are best analyzed along with Handwriting sample. For example, one can derive more accurate meaning if you how is Singature sized as against the handwriting, how is it slanted as against normal handwriting, Also positioning of Signature gives some good information and there can be many more such insights that can be derived. So, had more information been available, the analysis would have been more elaborate.
So, obviously Signature Samples from Such sources have some issues, which i think you would appreciate now. But nevertheless what is presented to you in this analysis is my best attempt and i hope you will enjoy the same.

Abhijit Bansod's Signature Analysis

Abhijit Bansod has a Desire to be different . A person with this trait usually feels I have something that sets me apart from others and this difference is quite important to me. Given his closeness to India and its unique culture, he imbibed and used this differentiation in his Product designs which were so refreshingly Indian and gave him something that set him apart from the crowd. He really had this innate desire to do something different in his early days. Even for his Diploma project, he had approached Bajaj for doing People's car in an auto riskshaw base. One of his first design intervention abhijit omelet in 1995 at NID campus is a big business today !

He possesses Fluidity of Thoughts in his personality. Fluidity of thoughts denotes the ability of a person to move from one thought to other or from one thought pattern to another with ease. This trait gives him immense ability to write or express his ideas with graceful fluidity. In a way Fluidity of thoughts is one of the prime personality trait if one were to create an Idea into a complete package that could be sold to customers. Most of the times people get wonderful Ideas but they fail to get productized sometimes because the ideas lack spark but generally because the idea lacks necessary fluidity to presented in a way that wins over the hearts, minds and souls of the people concerned. In case of Abhijit, as his Signature shows he possesses necessary fluidity. The one reason that he is sucesful is because of his unique blend of ideas tied closely with common man's requirements (StudyLite) and Indian culture but one main reason is that he has this knack to deliver/communicate ideas in a way that leaves a lasting impact and this comes with fluidity of thoughts. In 2002, he designed Titan 'Heritage' collection of watches and then Titan 'Raga', which became hugely successful. Most of his designed products became hits after the successful story telling around the product by him and his team.

He possesses the need to be Socially prominent , someone who is of big stature. He has a need to stand out from the crowd. He has a great deal of Self pride and this trait is something that is a fodder for people who are extremely passionate. The signatures of former US Presidents Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter also have this trait. This is one trait that has possibly helped Abhijit to really stand out and make a mark for himself in a field in which there are not many parallels in India. Afterall, historically Indian products were rarely associated with the terms like Sublime design.

He is an Investigative and Exploratory thinker . Such a thinker thinks rapidly and has a desire to satisfy his many curiousities, is constantly inquiring , always curious about many things. Such people always are studying something new, something better and always seem to have a ready comeback in any argument. This trait goes well with Fluidity of mind and make a very potent combination. For his quest in learning something new- he studied Japanese design philosophy, Scandinavian design philosophy, Italian design philosophy before curious wondering whether there is anything called as Indian design philosphy. Something that he has strived to work to find answers for in his design creation.

Can handwriting determine how you cope with criticism ?

The personality trait- "Sensitiveness to criticism" primarily deals with how much a person lets him or her get affected by the way what others think or say.
It can be termed as Fear of disapproval.

Certain characteristics possessed by a person with this trait as **-
- Such a person wants everyone to like him/her every time.
- Such a person has a need for approval from others.
- Such a person might get into the habit of reading between words and concluding that the other person has said a certain thing with the intention of criticizing him.
- Such a person has an over-bearing need to be praised all the time.
- Such a person has a tendency to be defensive when provided with a negative feedback.

Through these characteristics, though it may look that “Sensitiveness to Criticism” is actually something worthless to have in our personality. To counter this, consider the following situations**-
- A student criticized for showing poor results in the class, gets back in next exams with good results. Such a person knows how it feels like to be criticized and works harder not to be in same situation again.
- For the people in Showbiz, the attitude of “Everyone should like me” is critical to success as such a belief prompts these professionals not to allow anyone to criticize their appearances.
- In order to do his/her job better a salesman has to be sensitive to the needs of customers.

There can be some other situations like these as well. Most of the personality traits have desirable facets as well as the undesirable ones. The transition from the desirable to undesirable ones happens over a fine line and the person has to be smart enough to know when he is crossing that line or Graphology can definitely help you judge that.

Watch out for a follow-up post soon...

Can the presence of "Ego" be determined using one's handwriting ?

"Ego" as defined by thefreedictionary.com:
Ego is the self of an individual person. The self, especially as distinct from the world and other selves.
Ego is one's concept of onself.

Is Ego necessarily a bad thing ?
Ego is not necessarily a bad thing. Infact, it is in a way necessary for one's survival. In other words, for humans to exist and flourish- it is necessary to have sense of self i.e. one's Ego.
However an inflated ego is a bad thing, even detrimental to yourself and relationships you may have. An inflated ego is when you believe the world revolves around you.
As i observed in one of the Online forums -
"Ego can be either good or bad. If you have an ego, than you must control it and not let it control you. You must have enough ego to have self confidence and to get noticed, but not to the point where people roll their eyes when you enter a room.
Everyone considered as sane has a sense of oneself which is considered their ego."

Having an ego is akin to breathing. If you are a human being you will have an ego, whether one likes this statement or not. It helps one create a Self image and hence is a reflection of self confidence as well.
So, having Ego is not a bad thing at all. The problem usually begins when your Ego inflates and overtakes you.

Types of Ego:

Healthy Ego
A healthy ego is one where good self-esteem reigns.

What this means is that there are little to no insecurities about one's real feelings of worth so there would be little reactivity when the outside world challenges one. A healthy ego does not have to negatively react, defend, justify, rationalize, fight, manipulate or hide from challenges because it is convinced that whatever is going on outside will not change who one is and what one stands for.

Unhealthy Ego
Conversely, an unhealthy ego is one where low self-esteem reigns. There are continual feelings of discomfort/shame with oneself and no real trust in oneself or one's abilities.
Someone feeling this way will boost, defend, justify, rationalize, fight, manipulate, hide from challenges, be arrogant and react in volatile ways because a chord of fear has been struck: "What if the outside world finds out what I'm really like?"
The person with the unhealthy ego typically hears negative self-talk which is unsupportive and frightening since it gets its source of information from what one truly feels about themselves. They can also feel exaggerated ideas about themselves, such as grandiose ideas about how wonderful and exceptional they are to the point of being conceited and arrogant and can also believe that they are beyond reproach, responsibility or consequences.
Most personas with unhealthy egos are difficult to get to know or have intimacy issues because of their fear of really being found out. Their self-loathing has superseded their feelings of self-love.

Unhealthy ego can manifest in several ways. I have defined a few of them courtesy the book Word Power Made Easy

- Egoist:
An Egoist's attitude towards life is simple and direct. Every decision such person makes is based on the answer to one question- "What's in it for me ?" He has this selfish, greedy and rutheless desire for self-advancement and if that hurts anyone, so be it.

- Egotist:
An Egotist has all the traits that define an Egoist but with a big mouth. An Egotist is boastful to an extent of being obnoxious.

- Egocentric:
Egocenteric is an extreme form of Egoist. He considers himself center of the universe.

- Egomaniac:
Egomaniac carry egoism to such an extreme that his needs, desires and interests have become an morbid obsession, a mania.

Can handwriting determine "Healthy" ego ?
Going by the definition, the personality characteristics that define "Healthy" ego are-
- Reasonable Ego Strength:
In Handwriting, it is represented by Capitals that are approximately twice the middle zone.
- Good Self esteem:
Self-esteem is the total value one gives to self. The National Association for Self-Esteem defines self-esteem as "The experience of being capable of meeting life's challenges and being worthy of happiness." People with healthy egos give just enough importance to self and dont exaggerate the same.
In Handwriting, Self esteem is represented by positioning of "t" horizontal bar in the "t" stem. The higher the horizontal bar on the stem, the greater the self esteem.
- Pride:
People with Healthy Egos exhibit Pride in their positive achievements.
In Handwriting, Pride is seen in letters "t" or "d" wherein the stem of these letters is around twice more than the middle zone.
- Lack of defensiveness in behavior:
People with Healthy Egos do not generally tend to be defensive and reactive to other's thoughts towards themselves. They exhibit certain contentment.
In Handwriting, to my knowledge there is no one trait that shows Lack of defensiveness. I think well balanced and retraced "t" bar with horizontal bar perfectly balanced and stem retraced is one indicator. I will cover this more in my forthcoming posts.

Can Handwriting determine "Unhealthy" ego ?
Going by the definition, the personality characteristics that define "Unhealthy" ego are-

- Inflated Ego Strength:
In Handwriting, it is represented by Capitals that are approximately four to five times the middle zone.
- Low self esteem:
People with Unhealthy ego do not put right value to themselves, their efforts.
In Handwriting, Low self esteem is represented by "t" horizontal bar being placed very low i.e. in lower part of middle zone.
- Vanity:
People with Unhealthy Ego exhibit Excessive Pride in themselves, which in a sense is a false pride.
In Handwriting, Vanity is exhibited in "t" and "d" stems being four, five or even more times taller than the middle zone.
- Sensitive to Criticism:
People with Unhealthy ego are vulnerable to other people criticising their ideas and thoughts. By being sensitive they form a sort of false defense mechanism.
In handwriting, Sensitive to Criticism can be judged by loops in "t" and "d" stems.
- Self Deceit:
A person with Unhealthy ego may tend to deceive himself of the real facts. He may live in make-beleive world, where he can chose to ignore facts no matter how convincing they would be, just to satisfy his ego and false sense of self.
In handwriting, the Self Deceit is generally shown by letter "o" with a loop on the left hand side.
- Domineering:
People with unhealthy ego are generally unpleasant and may tend to be assertive in forcing his views and authority on others, being domineering.
In handwriting, Domineering tendencies are seen in letter "t" with horizontal bar slanting downwards and with sharp ends (indicating sarcasm with dominance).

Note:
If you are wondering how to figure out "Egoist", "Egotisi", "Egocentric" and "Egomaniac" personality from the above traits, consider this-
- An "Egoist" will generally have some or all of above traits of Unhealthy ego.
- An "Egotist", in addition to above traits will be more talkative (In handwriting, "o", a" loops will have an opening).
- An "Egocenteric" person, in additional to all above traits will be talkative and argumentative (In handwriting, shown by break-away "p") i.e. he might use unnecessary arguments to prove his Ego centeredness.
- An "Egomaniac" person, in addition to being Egocenteric might be emotionally unstable and unpredictable (shown by variable slant handwriting).

Signature Sample

This Signature Sample is resized for better readibility

A Note before you read the Analysis

If one starts searching the Internet, there are quite a few Signature samples available and interstingly all quite different. One thing with Sports person signature samples is that more often the Signature samples are collected in the form of Autographs, which are rendered on hurry in situation when the Sportsperson has to sign for many people in the queue.
Considering this, i am not too sure under what circumstances is the sample listed in this post was taken. So, i request you to consider this fact as you go through the below analysis. There may be other samples available, whose authenticity like this one is as good as other samples available on Internet. So, lets enjoy with what we have here!

Sachin Tendulkar's Signature Analysis

Sachin Tendulkar possesses healthy self confidence in his personality. The person with self-reliance, or self-confidence, is convinced of his ability to reach the goals he sets for self. There is no better example of a player with self reliance than Sachin in the world of cricket today.

Sachin doesn’t fear failure and is very sure of his abilities. Probably that’s the reason he has proven his critics wrong time and again by coming up with consistent batting masterpieces.

He possesses defiance in his personality. A defiant person resists other's authority. This trait is often seen as resentment at being told what to do and as rebellion. It is possibly this trait that helps him not allow bowlers get on top of him and deal with them with his trademark authority.

He is a dreamer and visionary. He has always set himself goals that would be considered as unattainable by lesser people. The weight of his achievements on the field is a true testimony of his being able to dream impossible stuff and going a step further to achieve the same.

He exercises a lot of self control. Self control may be towards a particular type of goal or desire to control a certain type of fear. Such a person may not communicate freely if he is imposing control over his speech. This is so true of Sachin Tendulkar when is he addressing media especially addressing controversial issues. This is probably one trait that has helped him stay away from controversies in his career.

Sachin possess pride and dignity in his personality. Pride is a spur to achievement. He tends to expect respect from others and expect others to treat him with dignity. Dignity can also related to defense i.e. if someone tries to push him, he tend to stand above criticism. That’s probably the reason he is so widely respected.

Being an analytical thinker, he has the ability and desire to consider the pros and cons. He interprets all the facts by separating them, breaking them down, and organizing them from a critical point of view. This trait helps him to simplify thinking and coming up with great ideas on field.

Sachin is optimistic by nature. The positive thinking attitude helps him believe that tomorrow will be better day and look at the brighter side of life.

Can the personality trait of "Patience" be determined using someone's handwriting ?

What is Patience ?

Dictionary.com defines patience as "an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay".

Wikipedia defines Patience as- "Patience is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties."

Characteristics of an Individual showing Patience:
So, If we have to look at the trait of Patience more holistically it constitutes of the following parts-
- Any person with Patience may tend to have more of Attention to details. i.e. Patient person will make enough efforts to care for the details. Impatient person is more likely to miss on the details.
- Patient person will not show Impulsiveness in his behavior in the common day-to-day situations. He will largely be more calm than the person who makes decisions by impulse
- Patient person will be more persistent in his efforts. Quoting the wikipedia definition, Impatient person will likely give up when faced with some serious difficulties.
- Patient person will have less of temper in his personality, atleast he wont be too vocal (in negative sense) about it.

Can handwriting reveal "Patience" ?
There is no one single trait in handwriting analysis that determines patience in an individual. It always helps to break down the trait into different characteristics that define a particular trait- in this case "Patience".
If we look at the different identified characteristics in the previous section, it primarily talks about 4 different traits-

1. Attention to details
2. Lack of Impulsiveness
3. Persistence
4. Lack of temper

Now, the question becomes- Can handwriting reveal the above four traits ? The answer is an "Yes", it very well can.

1. Attention to details is usually revealed by looking at "i" or "j" dots. If the dot is closer to the stem and is formed using a well formed dot (i.e. no slashes etc.).
2. One indicator of Impulsiveness in handwriting is the slant of the handwriting. Usually the extreme right slant in the handwriting indicates a person very much under the influence of emotions and generally impulsive. A person with rather straight slant or moderately right side slant generally is not as impulsive.
3. Persistence in handwriting is revealed by the strokes that end up to the right after completing a star like formation.
4. Temper is usually revealed by the stroke in handwriting that has to do with placement of "i","j" dots and "t" horizontal bar. If the "i", "j" dots are more skewed towards the right rather than on the top of these letters or if "t" horizontal bar is towards the right, it indicates the presence of temper in the handwriting.

So, if i check the handwriting and find a person having all these 4 traits- that means i am dealing with a Patient person ?
Yes and No.
Yes because the presence of these 4 traits to a large extent sum up that a person has patience in his personality.
No because drawing conclusions about Personality trait from one's handwriting is not-so straightforward. The reason is that to make conclusions the handwriting should be looked at more holistically and after careful study of dependent traits e.g. in the above break-up if a person has left hand slant (more Introvert tendencies) and has a temper stroke in handwriting, he may not always be too expressive. It may give an impression that a person is patient but he may not be so deep down.
Similarly, the meaning of analysis may change if we take pressure into consideration.
Also, the meaning might change if we are looking at Signature of a person and the general handwritten note. Having these traits in Signature but not in actual handwriting would mean that the person tend to be patient in public life but in real life he may not be so.

So, the overall analysis of personality may not be as simplistic as knowing a single trait but the above certainly would give pointers to what to look for when determining patience through an individual's handwriting.

Note:
1. The origin of this post is attributed to one of the questions posted in Graphology community in Orkut.
2. I will work to put the pictorial view of the strokes explained in section- "Can handwriting reveal "Patience" ?" in some time.

Does your signature reveal your actual personality ?

Consider a large gathering of people and one person at ease delivering a high quality presentation which is appreciated by one and all attending the gathering. Later this person mingles with people, discusses with the post presentation questions again with a smile on his face. After the session gets over the same person goes back home and prefers to be not disturbed and be just left alone for hours together doing an activity he/she likes doing, he speaks to those around him on his own terms largely as single word answers.
Another example say when a person tends to be always on time for meetings, attending calls but when the same guy reaches close to his near and dear ones, he is never punctual, just like to laze around.

These examples suggests that human beings tend to have two different representations of themselves- one largely for public and one that he actually is at the core. Practically, its very hard to separate these 2 representations as the public profile often gets influenced by the inherent personality of an individual. If you just take a look at the day that just went by, there can be more such examples of how we tend to be different in our personal life as against the public life. Though the degree of this variance differs from one individual to the another but such difference exists for sure.

Coming back to Signature analysis, the Signature of a person is synonymous to one's public life. It reveals the characteristics of the personality that we tend to portray to the external world, which is necessarily not similar to what we are at the core of our personality and usually is a more polished way to represent ourselves (depending on the context).

Overall, in my experience- signature reveals a very important information about an individual. The overall personality characteristic of an individual will always be better read and understood when done in conjunction with public personality and the private(core) personality.

So, in overall context of things, a handwriting sample of an individual reveals his core personality traits and the signature reveals the projected public personality traits.

In the upcoming posts, i will be covering more on analyzing Signatures, basically sharing how i go about doing the same. Stay tuned!

A note about Signature Analysis

First thing to note is that the analysis results may differ quite much from the Handwriting analysis results of an Individual. The main reason for this is that a person's Signature reflects his or her's public self image i.e. how a person wants himself to be percieved or seen in public also how a person behaves in public. So Signature analysis may not reveal core trait as handwriting would because people behave differently in public that at home or with near or dear ones. But none the less, it reveals an important and relevant information.
Usually, the Signatures are best analyzed when a person's Handwriting sample is also available because Interpretation may vary depending upon differences in size, slant, legibility, direction of both handwriting and the signature samples.
This signature analysis for Stephen Covey is done in isolation with handwiting as the handwriting sample was not available. But nevertheless, the signature releaved quite rich information about Stephen Covey's personality as stated below.

Stephen Covey's Signature Analysis

Stephen Covey possesses fluidity of thoughts . Fluidity of thoughts denotes the ability of a person to move from one thought to other or from one thought pattern to another with ease. This trait gives him immense ability to write or express his ideas with graceful fluidity. This is a single trait that probably makes him such a great writer and a good conversationalist.

Diplomacy is one of his noticeable attributes. He has the ability to say what others want to hear. He has the flair to state things in such a way as to not offend someone else. This trait again helps him in being a great speaker and especially in putting his point across with poise.

He is an investigative thinker . He thinks rapidly and has a desire to satisfy many curiosities, always enquiring and curious about many things. It is this trait that has possibly led him to explore diverse personal effectiveness aspects.

He has the desire to take more responsibility . With this trait, he doesn’t get easily satisfied with the status quo and always strive to handle more responsibility. That probably explains why he has been successful in writing so many best sellers as always desired for more.

He possesses great deal of enthusiasm in his personality. Enthusiasm is a key ingredient to his success in the chosen field because it motivates one towards positive action. Enthusiasm is a producer of confidence and generates that extra spark that makes him great.

He is more braced towards his own ideas. Many people known to him might think of him as stubborn because once he makes up his mind, he don’t really wish to be confused by facts. Once he thinks he is right, he takes a stand and sticks to it.

The part of his signature also signifies disappointment or negative feelings towards his public self image in the business world or particularly the area of his work. This is probably because (as his signature indicates) he has tendencies to be a loner i.e. a feeling that he is very self-sufficient and always trying not to need anyone.

He is a practical person whose goals are planned, is practical, and down to earth . This is typical of people with healthy and positive self-esteem that contributes to his success. He has a need to visualize the end of a project before the start. This trait has probably helped him in authoring great successful books.

The Power of your handwriting

We all live in a world that is fast getting dependence on everything with a prefix- "e". With the advent of Internet and related computing technologies, the world has for sure changed upside down. We had emails now when earlier communication was through snail mail. People can write SMS and share any information as quickly as a press of a button. We now have social networking sites helping to connect people even they meeting physically. There has been a sea change in the way we perceive life now as against may be almost a decade ago.
Of all the side effects of these changes one has been that people have move away from pen and any form of writing instruments like paper, pencil etc. You ask an average person, when they last attempted to write- it will require some thinking t figure out the answer. It is ironical given that as a kids we start our major learning by holding a pencil.
I was recently reading a Harvard Business School study , and it said something like this-

From the book What they don’t teach you at Harvard Business School by Mark McCormack:
In the book What They Don't Teach You in the Harvard Business School, Mark McCormack tells a study conducted on students in the 1979 Harvard MBA program. In that year, the students were asked, "Have you set clear, written goals for your future and made plans to accomplish them?" Only three percent of the graduates had written goals and plans; 13 percent had goals, but they were not in writing; and a whopping 84 percent had no specific goals at all.

Ten years later, the members of the class were interviewed again, and the findings, while somewhat predictable, were nonetheless astonishing. The 13 percent of the class who had goals were earning, on average, twice as much as the 84 percent who had no goals at all. And what about the three percent who had clear, written goals? They were earning, on average, ten times as much as the other 97 percent put together.

This study from a credible source is a proof enough that if we were to leave all the handwriting, we rather do it at our own peril. This is atleast true while doing your goal setting, as the study proves.

Is your own handwriting a powerful medium to set out something for your life and achieve it subsequently ? The answer to this question may not be in affirmative but i think its something worthwhile trying, atleast!

Do you agree ?

Spotting Dyslexic tendencies through handwriting

What is Dyslexia ?
As the dictionary meaning of Dyslexia states- A learning disorder marked by impairment of the ability to recognize and comprehend written words.
As wikipedia define- Dyslexia is a learning disorder that manifests itself as a difficulty with reading, spelling and in some cases mathematics.
Dyslexia is usually not considered as an Intellectual disability. The dyslexic child though with sort of learning disability is as normal as any other child in the vicinity.

Dyslexia symptons:
There are a lot of valuable sources available on Internet basically stating the symptoms of Dsylexia. I will just sum up a few important ones-
1. Directional confusion: The Child does not have a good sense of direction and is generally not able to distinguish between Left, Right, up, down and may have difficult reading maps.
2. Many dyslexic people are not able to follow the proper sequence of letters in a word. While reading the word, they tend to incorrectly follow the sequence of letters and while writing they will generally tend to misspell some letters of a word.
3. Misreads little words, such as a for and, the for a, from for for, then for there, were for with.
4. Omits or reads twice little words like the, and, but, in.
5. Complains of dizziness, headaches or stomach aches while reading.
6. Confused by letters, numbers, words, sequences, or verbal explanations.
7. Reading or writing shows repetitions, additions, transpositions, omissions, substitutions, and reversals in letters, numbers and/or words.

Dyslexia and Handwriting:
The symptoms of Dyslexia can be understood from one's handwriting. Some examples as below-
- The dyslexic may reverse letters like b and d, or p and q, either when reading or writing.
- He may invert letters, reading or writing n as u, m as w, d as q, p as b, f as t.
- He may read or write words like no for on, rat for tar, won for now, saw for was.
- He may read or write 17 for 71.
- He may mirror write letters, numbers and words.
- He may put syllables in the wrong order, reading animal as ‘aminal’, hospital as ‘hopsital’, enemy as ‘emeny’.
- The dyslexic may reverse numbers, and read or write 17 for 71.
- He may transpose numbers i.e., 752 – 572.
- Spells words as they sound, for example ‘rite’ for right.

Dyslexia in the news:
My first introduction to Dyslexia was though a sensitive bollywood movie called Taare Zameen Par . The movie brilliantly captured the life and struggles of a dyslexic child, when his parents, school teachers and friends fail to recognize his disorder and treats him as one having low intelligence. The wonderful movie passes on the apt message about how to emphatically deal with such a child and helping him find his true calling.

Recently heard this news about Supreme court in India rejecting the plea of Dyslexic child from using the calculator in exams. While the court might have its own intelligent reason for this decision but being in a progressive society, it is imperative to be sensitive to the needs of different sects of society especially the special ones. Probably, this ruling is like a deserving blind student being asked to appear for an exam without a Braille system. Injustice is probably a mild word here!

What does Nelson Mandela’s handwriting depict about his personality?

Here's something that i have always loved doing since i learned Handwriting Analysis-to dissect and dig deep into the great people's personality and knowing the core stuff that makes them. Continuing with this attempt, in this post i have further attempted to explore personality of a great leader- Nelson Mandela.

Nelson Mandela is a hero’s hero. He single handedly freed South Africa from Apartheid in the 1990’s and then became its first black president.

He was imprisoned in South Africa for 27 years, locked up in his cell during daylight hours, enduring the prime years of his life as a political prisoner. An opponent of the reigning government that endorsed apartheid, he wanted black people to have equal rights in their own country. He was peacefully working for a free and fair democracy in South Africa. When the South African government finally released him from prison, he led his country out of slavery as the new president of South Africa in the year 1994. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 as a tribute to all who dedicate their life for peace.

Trivia: At seven years of age, Rolihlahla Mandela became the first member of his family to attend a school, where he was given the name "Nelson," after the British admiral Horatio Nelson, by a Methodist teacher who found his native name difficult to pronounce.

Nelson Mandela's Handwriting Analysis

Nelson Mandela is an Independent Thinker . His thinking is Independent of others thoughts. In both his thinking and actions, he tends to stay as close as possible to reality. Although he cares what others think but it is definitely not the main influence in his decision making. He has his strong internal frame of reference for what is right and what is wrong. He doesn’t really care if someone approve of him or not, he knows right from wrong and will live that way through any type of criticism. During his initial anti-apartheid movement, he was greatly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s non violence mantra but it was his Independent thinking that helped in convincing him that when many years of non-violent protest against apartheid had achieved nothing and could not succeed, he retorted to armed struggle.

Nelson Mandela possesses High Intelligence in his personality. He is keenly comprehensive in his thinking and has a great ability to quickly understand and size up a situation. Whilst in prison Mandela undertook study with the University of London by correspondence through its External Programme and received the degree of Bachelor of Laws. During his teens, he completed his Junior Certificate in two years, instead of the usual three. These instances give glimpses in to his academic intelligence.
He also possesses Quick decision making ability . He can think and evaluate circumstances very rapidly. High Intell igence and Quick decision making ability has helped Mandela deal with various unknown situations that he faced throughout his life.
He possesses a Positive attitude towards life. He is optimistic by nature and has the ability to see something positive in extreme situations. This is something that helps him move forward even when faced with tough challenges.
He has High Self esteem . Self-esteem or self image is the total value one gives to self. Having good self image, he tends to feel really good about himself and has a tremendous faith in his abilities.
He has set High goals for himself in every endeavor he took. He always had this rare vision set for himself. He always had his vision of a free and democratic South Africa.
He is open to other’s thoughts and philosophies . He does not have a kind of restricted mindset. He always tends to welcomes other’s ideas and is not so attached to his own thoughts. Mandela's approach during his initial years was influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, who inspired him.
In communicating, he is always Honest and blunt in giving his opinions . Though he is argumentative, he tends to drive his arguments with rare honesty and bluntness.

Nelson Mandela's Handwriting Analysis- The building blocks

I have just tried to come up with the basis of the above Handwriting Analysis and captured the same in the image below. This indicates the different handwriting strokes that gave the vital personality related clues. Have a look!

A new beginning

It has always been at the back of my mind to start blogging about Graphology but so far it had not happened. So, just getting up from an unusually sleepless night today, i am kicking off this blog. Honestly, at this moment i don't know if this blog will have followers or not but i would rather to resolve to write about the subject so close to me just for the sake of self satisfaction and hence getting all that important feel that i am doing my little bit to contribute to this special skill that i acquired years ago.
I feel it is apt to share the recent interview of mine (related to Graphology) that got published in my current organization's newsletter. I hope you enjoy this and the later posts as well. Here's to a new beginning!

Q: Hey, we came to know about your interests in Graphology. Please help us understand what is it ?
Anuj :
In simpler terms, Graphology is Handwriting Analysis. To be more elaborate, Graphology is a scientific method of identifying, evaluating, and understanding a person‟s personality via the strokes and patterns re-vealed by his handwriting.

Q: That sounds interesting, How did you first get involved in this subject ?
Anuj :
I first got interested during my college days when I incidentally got to read a book in the library. It really caught my imagination. After college, got busy with work and didn‟t get to do much towards this subject but I be-lieve that some interests just cling on to the heart and mind and get surfaced at appropriate times in our lives. This is what happened with me. Till 2003, I had almost forgotten about it but it again surfaced with a chance encounter when I came across a book on Graphology in a book store in Bangalore. After that I spent quite a bit of my free time exploring new horizons of this amazing science.

Q: Do you hold any professional qualification in Graphology ?
Anuj:
Yes, I am a Certified Handwriting Analyst from Handwriting University International based out of US.

Q: So, Graphology seems like more of an art form. What is your take on that ?
Anuj :
Graphology is also called Handwriting Analysis. In Latin, the prefix “Graph” means “to write” and the suffix “ology” means “the science of”. It is thus a scien-tific study of one‟s personality based on the way a person writes.
Graphology does not work on intuition or guess work- it is a science. The Library of Congress in US categorized it as a credible social science in 1981.
“It has helped me immensely to connect to people and develop a rapport. There is always that initial hesitation that people have about the subject. Most of the people whom I have met share their hand-writing with an intent of fun but what‟s most satis-fying for me is to see the expression of disbelief on seeing the accuracy. In my experience, the results of analysis are 90-95% correct.”

Q: Is there really a scientific basis to it ?
Anuj:
Graphology is where the conscious and subconscious mind meets. When we write, we use our conscious mind to think about the content. Whereas the subconscious mind influences the way the text is written, i.e. the letter formation, slant of writing, strokes etc. You never really think before writing certain letter such as "t", or "m" or "o" or anything else, it just flows. This is what gives vital information about personality. In fact, the word handwriting is a misnomer; it should be actually mind writing, as the brain is involved in guiding your hand to move.

Q: What kind of personality traits does Graphology re-veals?
Anuj :
Handwriting reveals hundreds of elements of the person's "personality and character," which include glimpses into the sub-conscious mind, emotional responsiveness, intellect, energy, fears and defenses, motivations, imagination, integrity, lying tendency, self esteem issues, procrastination tendencies, issues of trust, social orientation, and much more. There are over 100 individual traits revealed and an unlimited number of combinations.

Q: What are your future plans?
Anuj :
I am working on writing a book which details real time Handwriting and Signature analysis of famous as well as notori-ous personalities which would provide insights into core person-ality traits of these people and at the same time the book would use their handwriting samples to teach the nuances of handwrit-ing analysis to novice learners. Also, looking to earn a few dollars in the time to come. I hope a copy of this newsletter doesn‟t get leaked to Income Tax folks. ☺
Anuj has delivered a presentation about Graphology and its use in Software Testing in QAI's Interna-tional conference, it was titled- "Software Testing and Graphology- the complementary sciences", which was well received.
He has also authored an article in TheSmartTechie magazine on the subject- "Managing software personnel by the stroke of the pen" published in Feb 2008
